“In an era when unstructured data—content—is seen as the most critical fuel for the artificial era ahead, it’s time knowledge management had a seat at the table.”
Forbes, Knowledge Management, The Tech World’s Stepchild, May Be AI’s Salvation, May 13th 2026
“Consider the source.”
We may get this advice after cutting remarks from someone who isn’t in a good position to pass judgement themselves. It’s also good advice in today’s fractured media environment. Who is making a claim matters a lot. We don’t put much stock in surprising medical advice from BigJoesSupplements.com. We take seriously news pieces in the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal. As Google proved with the PageRank algorithm, the source of information makes a difference.
And if you’re an executive, Forbes tops the list as a credible source for insights about the ideas you and other business leaders should be aware of and take seriously.[*]
Getting the Word Out
The kernel of truth embedded in the headline and pull quote is familiar to anyone who reads my blog, other KM professionals’ posts, or who attends Consortium for Service Innovation events. Our community is building a burgeoning track record of success with AI initiatives powered by KCS.
Yet, all but the most enlightened executives are myopically focused on quickly shipping something with AI. They concern themselves less with formulating a strategy long term success.
I hope that this article finally makes it through to all our executives. I mean, it’s in Forbes…consider the source!
Ps – I read this article thanks to someone who shared it in some forum, but I don’t remember who or where. I’d love to give you thanks and credit if it was you—please let me know.
